Bicycle brake

Okay kiddo, you know how when you ride your bike really fast, it's important to be able to stop so you don't crash into anything? That's where the bicycle brake comes in!

A brake is a device that helps slow down or stop your bike. There are different types of brakes, but the most common kind on a bike is called a "rim brake." This kind of brake works by pressing two rubber pads against the metal wheel rim.

When you squeeze the brake lever on your handlebars, a cable (like a long thin rope) running down to the brake gets pulled. That cable pulls on a metal arm, which makes the two rubber brake pads move closer to the wheel rim. The pads squeeze the rim, creating friction (like when you rub your hands together really fast) and causing your bike to slow down or stop.

It's important to keep your bicycle brake in good shape by making sure the rubber brake pads are not worn out and are touching the wheel rims properly. Remember to look after your brakes, so you can stay safe while you're riding your bike!
