ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bilateral synchronization

Bilateral synchronization is when two things work together in a way that makes them both move or act in the same way at the same time. It's like when you and your friend are walking together and you accidentally start walking in sync, or when you clap along to a song with a group of people and everyone claps at the same time.

In the case of the human brain, bilateral synchronization is when the left and right sides of the brain work together in a synchronized way. The left side of the brain is usually responsible for logical thinking and language processing, while the right side of the brain is more creative and intuitive.

When the two sides of the brain are synchronized, it can lead to better brain function and improved cognitive abilities. Studies have shown that activities like meditation, listening to music, and even playing video games can help promote bilateral synchronization in the brain.

So, just like when you and your friend walk in sync, or when a group of people clap together, bilateral synchronization in the brain can help different parts of the brain work together in harmony and improve how it functions.
