Biogenous ooze

Okay kiddo, so you know how the bottom of the ocean is really far down and dark? Well, down there, tiny dead things from plants and animals fall from the top layers of the ocean and settle on the ocean floor.

These tiny dead things are called "biogenous" because they are made up of elements and minerals that come from living things, like carbon and calcium.

Over time, all these little pieces add up and form a thick layer called "ooze." It's called ooze because it's really muddy and slimy.

So biogenous ooze is just a fancy name for all the slimy, muddy dead things that collect at the bottom of the ocean!
