Biological psychiatry

Biological psychiatry is a type of medicine that helps people who have problems with their feelings and behaviors. Just like how your body has parts that work together to keep you healthy, your brain has different parts that control your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Sometimes, these parts might not work properly, which can make you feel sad, scared, or angry even when you don't want to feel that way. Biological psychiatry tries to figure out why this is happening by looking at how the different parts of your brain work and how chemicals in your brain called neurotransmitters help control your thoughts and feelings.

Doctors who study biological psychiatry can prescribe medicine to help correct any imbalances in your brain's chemicals, which can help you feel better. They can also suggest therapies like counseling or talking to somebody about your problems to help you feel better over time.

Just like how you might need to take medicine for a cold or the flu to feel better, if you're feeling really sad or scared all the time, your doctor might suggest taking medicine to help you feel better too. The goal of biological psychiatry is to help you feel happy and healthy, just like you want to be!
