Bloomery

Hey there, have you heard about bloomery? It's a type of furnace that people used a long time ago to make something called iron.

So let's imagine you want to make a cake but instead of using an oven, you use a special pot with fire underneath it. This pot is called a bloomery.

Now, instead of cake ingredients, you put in something called iron ore, which is a type of rock that has iron in it. When the fire heats up the bloomery, it makes the iron ore really hot and melts some of the iron inside of it.

The melted iron gets really heavy and falls to the bottom of the pot where it cools down forming a big chunk of iron called a bloom.

This process is really old, and people have been doing this for thousands of years. They used the iron they got from the bloomery to make weapons, tools, and all kinds of things.

So, the bloomery is like a magic pot that turns rocks into iron, just like your oven turns cakes into yummy goodness!
