Bodhrán

A bodhrán is a musical instrument that looks like a big wooden or plastic circle with a goat or synthetic skin stretched across one side. You hit the skin with a special stick called a “tipper” to make it make a sound.

It’s like playing a drum, but instead of using your hands to hit it, you use the tipper to tap on the skin. The bodhrán also often has a ring on the inside that you can use to help change the sound by tightening or loosening the skin.

People in Ireland especially like to play the bodhrán as part of their traditional music, but it's used in other kinds of music too. It's a fun instrument to play and can be used to create lots of different rhythms and beats.
