Bog

A bog is a really wet area of land where the ground is made mostly of dead plants that have built up over time. Picture a giant sponge that is always wet because it has so much water in it. The ground in a bog can be squishy and muddy, and it's hard to walk through without getting your feet stuck.

Bogs are important because they provide homes for lots of animals like birds, insects, and amphibians. They also help to clean the air because the plants in bogs absorb harmful gases from the atmosphere. However, because bogs are so wet, it can be hard for plants to break down and decompose, so they can build up and create a really thick layer of dead plant material. Sometimes, people use this dead plant material to make things like peat moss, which can be used to help other plants grow.

Overall, bogs are really cool and important parts of our planet that are full of life and help to keep our air clean.
