ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Boiler (power generation)

Imagine you have a big pot of water on the stove, and you want to use it to make steam to power a toy train.

A boiler is like your pot, but much bigger and more powerful. It's a closed container where water is heated to make steam, and the steam is used to turn turbines and generate electricity.

The water is heated by burning fuel, such as coal or gas, in a combustion chamber (like a fireplace). The heat from the burning fuel transfers to the water, which turns into steam and rises out of the boiler to power turbines.

The turbines are like spinning wheels with blades that catch the steam and turn with its force. As the turbines spin, they generate electricity that can be used to power homes, businesses, and even entire cities.

So, a boiler is like a giant pot that heats water to make steam, which is used to power turbines and generate electricity. It's an important part of how we make energy!
