Bolide

A bolide is like a big rock that comes from space and goes really fast through the air. It's also called a fireball because it looks like a big ball of fire! Sometimes it's so bright that it lights up the whole sky and everyone around can see it.

When a bolide enters the Earth's atmosphere, it gets really hot and starts to burn up. This is because of the air resistance that it faces as it travels through the air. The heat and pressure of the burning rock cause it to break up into smaller pieces, which are called meteoroids.

Sometimes, these meteoroids can make it all the way down to the ground without burning up completely. When this happens, we call them meteorites. People study meteorites because they can tell us a lot about the history of our solar system and how it formed.

So, a bolide is a big, fast-moving rock that comes from space and burns up as it enters our atmosphere. It creates a spectacular fireball in the sky and can sometimes leave behind meteorites that scientists study to learn more about the universe.
