Bolivia–Chile relations

Bolivia and Chile are two countries that are next to each other in South America. They are supposed to be friends and get along with each other, but sometimes they don’t. This is because of a big disagreement they have had for a very long time about some land that Chile has that Bolivia used to have.

To understand why Bolivia and Chile don’t get along, let’s pretend you have a toy that you really like to play with. Your friend comes over and wants to play with it, but you say no because you really like it and don’t want to give it away. That’s what’s happening with Bolivia and Chile. Bolivia used to have a big piece of land called the “Litoral” region, but Chile took it in a war many years ago. Bolivia has been very sad about this ever since and wants it back, but Chile says no because they think it belongs to them now.

This disagreement has made it hard for Bolivia and Chile to be friends. Bolivia has even gone to the International Court of Justice to try and get the land back, but Chile still doesn’t want to give it back. Sometimes people in Bolivia get upset with Chile and protest, which makes the situation even more complicated.

Overall, Bolivia and Chile have had a long-standing disagreement about a piece of land that has made it hard for them to be friends. They need to find a way to work together and move past this disagreement so that they can have a better relationship.
