Bonneville flood

A long, long time ago, there was a big river called the Columbia River. It was so big that it flowed through many states like Oregon, Washington, and even Canada! One day, a lot of rain fell and it made the river rise higher and higher. Eventually, the water was so high that it started to spill out of the river and into the land around it.

This was called the Bonneville Flood. It was a super big flood that lasted for a really long time. It was so big that it created giant canyons and made mountains smaller! People who live in that area now can still see the marks that the flood made on the land.

Even though the Bonneville Flood was a long time ago, it taught us a lot of things about how water can change the land around it. It also helped scientists learn about how Earth was formed. And that's why we still talk about the Bonneville Flood today!
