The Book of the Heavenly Cow is an Egyptian myth about the goddess Hathor. In the myth, Hathor is a cow goddess who is sent down from heaven to stop the people of Egypt from rebelling against Ra, the sun god. In order to do this, she turns the people into cows so that they can't disobey the gods any more. Eventually, the people come back to their normal selves and Ra is saved. The myth is a way for people to learn about obedience and how important it is to do what the gods say.
