Bootstrapping (statistics) is like making your own "samples" from the same data you are studying. It works by taking many tiny pieces of your data set, randomly choosing from them, and then putting these pieces back together to make a new piece of data that looks similar to the original. This new piece of data is called a "resample." You can then use this new data sample to help you make decisions about your original data. For example, you can use the resample to figure out the average or "mean" of a certain variable within your data set.
