The born alive rule is about when a baby is born. This rule says that a baby is considered "alive" when it is fully outside the mother's body and it is breathing on its own. Before this point, if the baby did not survive, it would not be considered "alive". So this rule makes it so that even if the baby is born too early, or if it looks like it might not make it, it is still considered "alive" and all the doctors will do everything they can to help the baby stay alive and get better.
