Bottle trap

A bottle trap is a special plumbing device that is used to prevent bad smells from escaping from your sink or basin. Imagine a little creature that lives in your sink and loves to play games in the water. This creature is called bacteria and it creates bad smells when it eats food and lives in wet places.

The bottle trap looks like a little bottle with a tube sticking out of it. It is usually hidden underneath your sink so you cannot see it. The bottle trap works by using water to trap the bad smells before they enter your home. When you wash your hands or brush your teeth, the water goes down the sink and fills up the bottle trap.

Because the bottle trap has a special curved shape, some of the water stays inside even after the sink is empty. This water creates a barrier that stops the bad smells from coming back up the drain and into your home. So the little creature called bacteria cannot escape anymore!

To keep the bottle trap working properly, you need to clean it regularly. You can unscrew the top part of the bottle trap to take out any debris or hair that may have collected inside. Then, you can pour hot soapy water down the sink to help wash away any remaining food or bacteria.

In summary, a bottle trap is a tiny bottle that lives under your sink and keeps bad smells from coming up the drain into your home. It works by collecting water that creates a barrier against bacteria and other bad smells.
