A box plot is a way to show information about a set of numbers in a very easy to understand way. It looks like a box with a line going through the middle. The box is split into four parts. The top and bottom parts (called the upper quartile and lower quartile) show the highest and lowest numbers in the set. The line in the middle (median) is the middle number in the set. The two parts above and below the median (called the interquartile range) show the other numbers in the set. This way you can quickly see how the numbers in the set are spread out.
