ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Boxplot

Okay kiddo! Have you ever seen a box made out of lines and dots? That's a boxplot!

Boxplots are a way to show information about a group of numbers (called data). They help us see things like the highest and lowest numbers, the middle number (called the median), and how spread out the numbers are (called the range).

The box in the boxplot shows where the middle half of the numbers are. The line inside the box is the median. The dots or circles outside of the box show the highest and lowest numbers.

Boxplots can also help us see if there are any numbers that are really far away from the other numbers. These are called outliers and they can help us understand if there are any unusual or extreme numbers in the group.

That's the basics of a boxplot, kiddo! Pretty interesting, right?
