Brahmavihara

Brahmaviharas are a type of meditation that helps us connect to our loving and peaceful sides. They help us focus on loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity – all things that can help us become happier and more accepting of life’s difficulties. To practice these meditations, you focus on four different thoughts and feelings. Each one helps us develop a connection to ourselves, others, and the world we live in. Loving-kindness focuses on wishing ourselves and others happiness, compassion allows us to feel for those who suffer, sympathetic joy helps us be happy for those who have successes, and equanimity reminds us to stay balanced and keep ourselves from getting too upset during hard times. All of these meditations help us to be kinder, more understanding people.
