ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Brandolini's law

Brandolini's law says that, "The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." This basically means that it takes way more effort to point out when something is wrong or incorrect than it does to make something up or spread false information. So, if you ever want to make sure something is correct, it's worth doing the extra work to make sure it is, otherwise it could be very misleading.
