ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

False balance

False balance is when an opinion or story is presented in a way that makes it seem like two opposite sides of an argument are equally true or equally likely, when one side is much more likely to be true than the other one. For example, if you read a news story that says something like "some scientists say climate change is real and some say it isn't", it might make it seem like both points of view are equally true or valid. But the truth is that most scientists agree that climate change is real, so the story may not be giving you a balanced view.
