Breathalyzer

A breathalyzer is a special device that helps the police find out if someone has been drinking too much alcohol. When you drink alcohol, it goes inside your body and spreads through your blood. When blood goes through your lungs, it lets out some of the alcohol in the form of air you breathe out.

A breathalyzer works by taking a small sample of your breath and then measuring how much alcohol is in it. The special parts inside the breathalyzer can tell how much alcohol there is by sensing the way the alcohol molecules reflect light.

The process is kind of like making a pie. The alcohol molecules are the pie ingredients, and the breathalyzer machine is like your oven. The breathalyzer machine heats up the alcohol molecules and then measures how much of them are present in your breath. This way, the police can tell whether you have been drinking too much and taking them for a test.

If the machine shows that you have been drinking, then the police may ask you some more questions or do some other tests to make sure you are okay to drive. If they find that you are not safe to drive, they will ask someone else to drive you home or take you to a safe place.

Remember, it is never okay to drink too much and then drive a car, bicycle, or even walk. Drinking too much can make you dizzy, sick, or even pass out, which is very dangerous. So always make sure you have a safe way to get home.
