Breeches Bible

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, people didn't have books like we do now. They had to write things by hand, which was really hard work. One important book that people wrote by hand was called the Bible.

Now, one day, some people wanted to make the Bible easier to read and understand for everyone. They decided to write it in a way that was more like how people talked every day. This new version of the Bible was called the Breeches Bible.

So why was it called the Breeches Bible? Well, in the old days, men wore pants called breeches that went down to their knees. But in some parts of the Bible, it talks about people hiding in bushes and not wanting to be seen, and it says they covered their "nakedness" with fig leaves. So, when the Breeches Bible was written, instead of saying they covered their "nakedness," it said they covered their "privy parts."

The Breeches Bible also changed some other words to make it easier for people to understand. For example, instead of saying "thee" and "thou," which was a more formal and old-fashioned way to talk, it used "you" and "ye," which was more like how people talked every day.

So, the Breeches Bible was a way to make the Bible easier to understand for regular people who didn't know a lot of fancy language. It helped more people learn about God and what he wanted them to do.
