Brickwork

Brickwork is when you use bricks to build things like walls, pathways, and buildings. Bricks are like blocks made out of clay that are baked in a really hot oven until they get hard and sturdy.

When builders make brickwork, they start by putting mortar on a surface, which is like a sticky paste made out of sand, cement, and water. Then, they place the bricks on top of the mortar in a certain pattern, called a bond. Usually, they put the bricks in rows, like building blocks, and they stagger each row so that the bricks fit together and create a strong structure.

Once the bricks are in place, the builders use special tools to cut them or shape them to fit into the space correctly. They also use levels and measurements to make sure that the brickwork is straight and even.

Brickwork can be used for lots of different things, like making walls for houses or schools, creating walkways or patios, and building fireplaces or chimneys. It is a very important part of construction because it is strong, durable, and can last for many years.
