British Protected Person

Okay, so a British Protected Person is someone who is not a citizen of the United Kingdom (that's where England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are), but is still protected by the British government. This is because that person lives in a country that used to be ruled by Britain a long time ago and now is independent, but the UK still wants to make sure those people are safe and protected. Think of it like a grownup being a bodyguard for a kid who needs help staying safe. So even though that person isn't as important as a citizen, they still get a little help from the UK if they need it.
