British undergraduate degree classification

Okay kiddo, so when people go to college in the UK, they work really hard to get good grades so they can finish their degree. When they finish, they get a score based on how good their grades were, and this is called their "degree classification."

There are four different classifications: first class honours, upper second class honours, lower second class honours, and third class honours.

First class honours is the best score you can get, and it means you got really excellent grades. Upper second class honours means you still did really well, but maybe not quite as well as the first class people. Lower second class honours means you did pretty well, but not great, and third class honours means you didn't do very well at all.

So when people finish their degree in the UK, they're really proud of the classification they get because it shows how well they did in college. And when they go out into the world to get a job, their degree classification can help employers decide if they're a good fit for the job.
