ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Broadcast relay station

Okay kiddo, imagine you're playing a game called "telephone" with a group of people. You whisper a message to the person next to you, who then whispers it to the next person, and so on. Eventually, the message gets to the last person who says it out loud for everyone to hear.

A broadcast relay station is kind of like one of the people in that game. It's a big tower or building that receives messages (called signals) from a TV or radio station and then sends those signals out to a wider area so that more people can hear or see them.

It's kind of like the relay race in sports. Just like how runners pass a baton to each other to move the race forward, the broadcast relay station passes the TV or radio signal along to more people farther away.

So, when you're watching TV or listening to the radio, thank the broadcast relay station for helping you get a better signal and enjoy your show!
