ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Broadside (naval)

Okay, so imagine you're playing with toy boats in the bathtub. Now, imagine one of the boats has a bunch of little cannons on one side. When that boat lines up this side with another boat, it's called a broadside. This means that all the cannons on that side of the boat can fire at the same time, shooting lots of little balls (or bullets) at the other boat.

Real life naval ships can also have cannons on their sides. When they line up their side with an enemy ship, they can fire all their cannons at once for a big attack. This is called a broadside. It's a really powerful move, kind of like a superhero's special attack, but for boats!
