Buitenplaats

A buitenplaats is like a big fancy house with a lot of land around it. It's usually in a nice area outside of the city where there are trees, flowers, and fresh air. People who are rich and important used to own these places a long time ago. They would go there to relax and have fun with their friends and family. There might be a garden where they grew vegetables and flowers, a pond with fish in it, and a big lawn where they can play games. Nowadays, some buitenplaatsen still exist, and people can visit them to learn about the history and see how the rich people used to live.
