ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Burping

Burping is when some air or gas that is trapped in your stomach, comes out of your mouth with a sound: "burp!" It happens when you eat or drink something, and your stomach gets filled with air or gas. The air or gas makes your stomach feel full, and it needs to escape, so it rises up and comes out through your mouth. Burping is a normal and natural way for your body to get rid of this excess air or gas. It doesn't hurt you, but it might make you feel better and less bloated. Sometimes, people say "excuse me" after burping, which is a polite way of saying sorry for the noise.
