ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Busy line interrupt

Imagine you are playing with your toy cars on a big street with your friends. You are all driving your cars at the same time, but sometimes you need to stop and wait because another friend's car is in the way. This is a busy line interrupt.

In the same way, when people make phone calls, sometimes someone else is already on the phone and they need to wait for them to finish before they can make their own call. This is called a busy line interrupt.

When someone calls and the line is busy, their call is interrupted and they hear a special sound, like a beep or a tone, that tells them the line is busy. This lets them know they need to wait a little bit before trying again.

The busy line interrupt helps keep the phone lines from getting too crowded and makes sure everyone gets a turn to use them. Just like you and your friends taking turns with your toy cars on the big street.
