Buttonhole

Have you ever seen a shirt, jacket, or dress with little holes in the fabric and little buttons that go through them to keep the clothes fastened? Those little holes are called buttonholes. They are made by cutting a small slit in the fabric and reinforcing it with stitches so the fabric won't get torn when the button is used. Buttonholes are important because they keep our clothes from falling off or getting too loose. So, next time you see a shirt with buttons, remember that there are little holes that help keep everything together!
