ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

CATH

Okay, so have you ever seen a little hose or tube that doctors use to put medicine or fluids into your body? That hose is called a catheter!

A catheter is used to help people when they can't pee normally, or need medicine or fluids in their bodies, like after surgery or when they're very sick. It's a little bit like a straw that goes into your body to help you out!

But don't worry, it doesn't hurt too much - doctors make sure to numb the area where they put the catheter in first. Once it's in, it helps your pee or medicine flow out of your body and into a bag that's attached to the end of the catheter.

When you're feeling better, the doctor or nurse will take out the catheter and you'll feel much better!
