COVID-19 testing

Okay kiddo, let's talk about Covid-19 testing, something very important that grown-ups are doing to make sure everyone is safe and healthy.

So you know how sometimes we get sick, and we go see a doctor who checks us out to see what's wrong? Well, Covid-19 testing is kind of like that. Except instead of going to the doctor to check out our bodies, we are checking to see if we have a tiny germ called the coronavirus that can make us very sick.

To do this, we need to use something called a test. It's like a tool that helps us find out if the coronavirus is inside our body. There are a few different kinds of tests we can use, but the most common one is called a swab test.

A swab test is pretty simple. It looks like a Q-tip, and the grown-up who is helping you will use it to take a little bit of mucus (boogers) from inside your nose or throat. It might tickle or feel weird, but it shouldn't hurt.

After they have the sample, they will put it in a tiny container and send it to a special lab where people in white coats will try to find the coronavirus in your sample.

Once they find the coronavirus, they will tell the grown-ups who are taking care of you so they can make sure you get the right treatment and don't spread the virus to other people.

So that's basically what Covid-19 testing is all about, kiddo. It's a way for grown-ups to keep everyone healthy and safe by finding out if we have a tiny, invisible germ that can make us sick.
