ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

CPU-bound

When you use your computer, there are lots of tiny little things that need to happen behind the scenes to make it work.

One of the most important parts of your computer is the CPU, or Central Processing Unit. This is like the brain of your computer, and it's in charge of doing all the important tasks that make your computer work the way it's supposed to.

Now, sometimes when you're using your computer, you might notice that it seems to be running really slow. This is because the CPU is working really hard to do all the things you're asking it to do. When your computer is "CPU-bound," that means that the CPU is the thing that is slowing everything down.

Think of it like trying to drink through a straw that's too thin. The CPU is the straw, and all the information you're trying to process is the drink. If there's too much drink going through the straw at once, it can get stuck and take a long time to come out the other side. That's what happens when your computer is CPU-bound - there's too much information going through the CPU at once, so it has a hard time keeping up and everything slows down.

So, if you want your computer to run faster, you need to give your CPU a break. You can do this by closing unnecessary programs, or upgrading your computer's hardware so that it can handle more information at once. That way, your CPU won't get overwhelmed and your computer will run much faster!
