ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cache manifest in HTML5

A cache manifest is a special file in HTML5 that tells your web browser to save copies of certain webpages, images, and other files so that it can access them even if you don't have an Internet connection. This makes your favorite websites and apps load faster, even when you don't have a connection. So instead of having to wait for webpages, images, or other files to load over the Internet, your web browser can get them from the saved copies, or "cache" that it stored on your computer.
