Cadmium telluride

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a type of material made from two elements: cadmium and tellurium. Cadmium is a silver-white metal found in the Earth and tellurium is found in the atmosphere and rocks. The two elements are combined together to form a solid material called CdTe, which is used in many different ways. It is mostly used in the form of a thin film, which is so thin that it looks like a single layer of atoms. CdTe films are used in solar cells to help turn sunlight into electricity. They are also used in flat-panel displays, including those in computers, phones, and TVs. In addition, CdTe is used in infrared detectors, X-ray detectors, and nuclear radiation detectors.
