Okay kiddo, so a long time ago in ancient Rome, there was a really famous guy named Julius Caesar. He was so important that he even had a special star named after him called Caesar's Comet.
Now, you know how stars are usually up in the sky all the time? Well, comets are a bit different. They are big chunks of ice and dust that usually hang out way out in space, but once in a while they come zooming by really close to Earth.
So, one day in 44 BCE (that's a really long time ago!), a really bright comet appeared in the sky. People at the time thought it was a sign from the gods, and they were especially worried because Julius Caesar had just been murdered. They wondered if the comet meant that something really bad was going to happen.
But, instead of something bad happening, Julius Caesar's nephew, Octavian, ended up becoming the new leader of Rome. He even changed his name to Augustus, which means "great" in Latin.
So, in the end, even though people were scared of the comet at first, it ended up being a sign of big changes and new beginnings in Rome.
