ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Calendar of saints (Episcopal Church)

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a calendar? It's like a big chart or chart paper where we write all the important dates and events that we should remember throughout the year. The Episcopal Church has a special kind of calendar called the Calendar of Saints.

Now, a saint is someone who was very good, kind, and devoted to God. They did good things in their life and set an example for others to follow. The Episcopal Church has a list of many such saints, and each of them has a special day on the calendar, which is called their "feast day."

On the feast day of a saint, we remember their good works, learn about their life and teachings, and celebrate their contributions to the world. It's like a birthday party, but instead of celebrating the person's birth, we celebrate all the good things that they did in their life.

The Calendar of Saints is an important reminder to us that we should look up to these holy people, try to follow their example, and be inspired by their stories. So, whenever we see a saint's name on the calendar, we can take a moment to think about their life and say a prayer or give thanks for all the good they did.
