ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

California Consumer Privacy Act

Hey kiddo! Today we're going to learn about the California Consumer Privacy Act or CCPA.

The CCPA is like a set of rules created to make sure that your personal information is safe, just like how we always put our toys in a safe place, so they won't get lost or broken.

When you go to a website or use an app, they sometimes collect information about you, like your name, age, address, and sometimes even your favorite color. The purpose of this law is to make sure that these companies tell you what information they are collecting and why they are collecting it.

Just like how you ask for permission to take something that's not yours, these companies will need your permission to use your personal information for anything. If you don't want them to use your information, you can tell them not to, just like how you tell your little brother not to touch your favorite toy.

This law also lets you tell the companies that you want them to delete your personal information, just like how you can clean up your room and throw away all the toys you don't use anymore.

Overall, the CCPA is like a set of rules to help protect your personal information and to make sure that you have the power to say what these companies can do with it.
