Immanuel Kant was a famous philosopher who lived in the 18th century. He wrote many books and essays about ethics and philosophy. Kant believed that people should think for themselves. He thought that running society in a good way means obeying certain rules or laws that guide our behavior. This idea is called the "golden rule". He also believed that humans should treat each other with respect and fairness. So, the idea is that even though you may not want to do something, if it hurts someone else you should still not do it.
