Call volume (telecommunications)

Call volume in telecommunications is like having a lot of people trying to talk to you on the telephone all at once. Imagine your mommy or daddy being on the phone with their friend and, all of a sudden, the phone rings and it's another friend calling. Your mommy or daddy is trying to talk to both friends at the same time, but it's hard to understand what each friend is saying because they are all talking at once.

Now, imagine that happening on a much bigger scale and instead of just your parents' friends calling, it's lots of people calling a big company or organization at the same time. This is called a high call volume. It can happen when there's a big event, like a concert or big sale, and lots of people are trying to get through to buy tickets or ask questions.

To handle a high call volume, companies usually have lots of people working to answer the phones or a special system that puts callers on hold until someone can talk to them. This helps to make sure that everyone can get the help they need, even if there are a lot of people calling at the same time.
