ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Calls per second

Calls per second is like counting how many times your friend can say "hello" in one second. Just like how your friend says "hello" into the phone, a computer program can also send information called "packets" through a network to another computer or server.

Calls per second is basically how many of these packets can be sent from one computer to another in a single second. Imagine you have a really fast car and you want to drive from one end of the city to the other – the more times you can drive back and forth in one hour, the higher your "calls per second" would be.

When it comes to computers and networks, having a higher calls per second rate means that information can be sent and received faster. This is really important when lots of people are using a website all at once or when lots of people are calling each other at the same time. The faster the call rate, the less time it takes for everyone to get their turn to talk or receive information.
