Cambodian American Repatriation

Okay kiddo, so the Cambodian-American repatriation is when some Cambodian people who were living in the United States had to go back to Cambodia. That's because they were refugees who escaped from a war in Cambodia a long time ago, but they didn't become American citizens.

Now, the American government said that they couldn't stay in the United States anymore, and they had to go back to Cambodia, even if they didn't want to. This made them sad and scared because they left Cambodia for a reason - it was a dangerous and difficult place to live.

But the government said that they had to go home anyway. Some of these people had been in the United States for years and didn't even remember Cambodia anymore. And for some of them, Cambodia was a really new and scary place that they had never been to before.

So the Cambodian-American repatriation was a difficult time for those Cambodian people that had to go back to Cambodia after finding refuge in the United States. It was a tough situation and it took a lot of courage for those people to start over in a new place.
