ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cameroonian English

Okay, so do you know how some people talk differently depending on where they're from? Like how some people say "y'all" instead of "you guys" or "pop" instead of "soda"? Well, the same thing happens in different countries too!

In Cameroon, which is a country in Africa, people speak different languages depending on which part of the country they're from. Some people speak French and some people speak English, but there are also lots of different languages that people speak too!

Now, when people speak English in Cameroon, they sound a bit different than people in other countries. This is because they have their own way of pronouncing words and their own words that they use!

For example, in Cameroon, they might say "pikin" instead of "child" or "chop" instead of "eat." And instead of saying "how are you?" like we do in America, they might say "how anglo?" which means the same thing!

So even though people in Cameroon speak English, they have their own special way of speaking it that makes it unique to their country. Cool, huh?
