The Canada-United States border is the line that separates Canada (on the north side) from the United States (on the south side). It is a very long border that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east all the way to the Pacific Ocean in the west. Along the border are a number of special crossings called 'ports of entry' where people can pass from one country to another. When people cross the Canada-United States border, they need to show a valid passport or other valid identification in order to get into either country. Customs officers also check for things like guns, drugs, and other items that are not allowed to cross the border.
