Canada's role in the War in Afghanistan
Once upon a time, Canada went to a far away place called Afghanistan. They went there because some bad people called the Taliban were being mean to other people in Afghanistan. Canada wanted to help those people be safe and free.
But it wasn't easy. The Taliban were really good at fighting and they had lots of weapons. Canada had to send lots of brave soldiers to help protect the people in Afghanistan and fight against the Taliban.
Canada's soldiers, also known as "heroes", would go out on missions to make sure the bad guys didn't hurt anyone. They would also help the people of Afghanistan with things like building schools and hospitals.
But war is dangerous and sometimes things didn't go well. Canada lost some of its heroes in the fight against the Taliban. It was very sad and made a lot of people really upset.
After a long time, Canada helped fight against the Taliban enough that they couldn't be as mean anymore. Canada's soldiers were able to go back home and the people of Afghanistan could start to live their lives in a safer and freer way.
