Canadian Institute for Health Information

The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) is like a big team of helpers who make sure we know all about how healthy Canadians are and what kinds of healthcare they’re getting. They collect a lot of information from hospitals and clinics all across Canada and put it together so we can make sense of it.

Think of it like a big puzzle. CIHI collects a lot of little pieces of information from lots of different places. Each piece tells us something about people’s health, like how many people went to the hospital, what kind of surgery they had, or how long they had to wait for their appointment. The team at CIHI takes all these little pieces and puts them together to make a big picture of what’s happening for everyone’s health.

Once CIHI has all this information, they can share it with others who want to learn more about healthcare in Canada. This helps people make important decisions about how to make sure Canadians stay healthy and get the care they need. And even though it sounds like a lot of work, the team at CIHI loves to do it because they know it helps everyone live healthier, happier lives.
