Candle wick

A candle wick is like a little string that helps a candle burn. It's made of cotton or other materials that are easy to light on fire. The wick goes down into the candle wax and brings the heat from the flame down with it. This heat melts some of the wax around the wick, which then gets pulled up the wick by something called capillary action. This helps keep the flame going so you can see the pretty light and smell the nice smells of the candle. Without a wick, you wouldn't be able to light a candle, and it wouldn't be able to stay lit for very long.
