Canine reproduction refers to the way dogs make baby dogs called puppies. Just like humans, dogs also have two genders, male and female. Male dogs have something called testicles, which are like two small balls inside their body. These testicles make a special liquid called sperm that helps to make puppies when they mate with a female dog.
Female dogs have something called ovaries, which are like small eggs inside their body. When a female dog grows up, she will have something called a heat cycle where her body releases an egg that can be fertilized by the male dog's sperm. When a male dog and a female dog mate during this time, the male sperm can reach the female egg inside her body and make a puppy.
If the mating was successful, the female dog will carry the puppies inside her body for about 2 months before they are ready to be born. During this time, the female dog will need extra food and care to make sure the puppies grow strong and healthy.
Once the puppies are born, it is the job of the mother dog to take care of them and feed them with her milk. It's also the job of the owner to make sure the puppies are safe, healthy, and well taken care of until they are old enough to find new homes. That's why it's important for dog owners to make sure their dogs only mate with other healthy dogs and to make sure their puppies are going to good homes where they will be loved and taken care of too.
