Canine reproductive behavior is when boy dogs and girl dogs do special things to make baby dogs. When a boy dog likes a girl dog, he will usually sniff her butt to see if she's ready to have babies. Then, he may try to mount her, which means he tries to climb on her. If the girl dog is ready to have babies, she will let the boy dog do this.
When the boy dog mounts the girl dog, he releases something called sperm inside of her. If the sperm meets one of the girl dog's eggs, it creates a baby dog! This is called "reproduction."
Sometimes, girl dogs don't want to have babies, even if a boy dog likes them. In this case, they will usually growl or move away when the boy dog tries to mount them. It's important for dogs to only have babies when they are ready and healthy.
After the baby dogs are born, the girl dog takes care of them until they can take care of themselves. This is called "parenting." It's important for boy dogs and girl dogs to have lots of love and care so they can have healthy babies and be happy together!
